Safe skydiving requires safe skydiving gear and safe and effective skydiving procedures. Other skydiving knowledge is also helpful and adds considerably to the safety and ultimate satisfaction of skydiving.

Skydiving is performed primarily at any of the numerous dropzones throughout the country. Various organizations exist that govern the sport, disseminate information, foster discussion, and to get skydivers together.

There are many skydiving styles, adding considerable variety to the sport, and skydivers are always finding new ways to play with gravity.
